Patricia Franklin
Patricia joined the Board of Directors of Greenwich Ballet Academy in October 2016 and became its Chairman in August 2018. In January 2023, Patricia assumed the role of GBA’s Executive Director in addition to the Chairman role. During her tenure at GBA, Patricia has been involved in all aspects of GBA from overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school to planning lavish productions, leading fundraising initiatives, and growing enrollment.
Patricia has over 25 years of experience practicing law as a corporate and securities lawyer. She acted as Executive Director for the Investment Banking Group of Nomura Securities International, providing legal advice regarding domestic andinternational mergers and acquisitions and public and private equity financings. Prior to joining Nomura, Patricia held the position of Executive Director and Senior Counsel for the Region Americas Investment Banking Group at UBS Securities LLC for fourteen years. Prior to UBS, Patricia was General Counsel at Serfin Securities, Inc. in New York City. She commenced her legal career at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene, & MacRae in New York City as an Associate in the Corporate Department.
Patricia has a Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, cum laude, from Tufts University.
Patricia served for nine years on the Board of Trustees of the Whitby School, a co-educational independent school for children eighteen months to Grade 8 in Greenwich, CT. She was Whitby’s Board Chair for seven years having previously served as Board Vice Chair, Chair of the Governance Committee and member of the Legal Committee. During her tenure as Board Chair, Whitby School achieved maximum enrollment for the first time in its history.
Patricia also has an extensive dance background. Patricia attended the School of American Ballet in New York City where she studied with master teachers Antonina Tumkovsky, Alexandra Danilova, Suki Schorer, Stanley Williams, Richard Rapp and Andrei Kramarevsky. Patricia danced professionally with Ballets de San Juan where her repertoire included many of the major classical ballets such as Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadere, The Nutcracker, Coppelia, La Fille Mal Gardee, La Sylphide, as well as George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, Scotch Symphony and Allegro Brillante. While at Ballets de San Juan, Patricia shared the stage with internationally renowned guest artists including Rudolph Nurejev, Fernando Bujones, Cynthia Gregory and Veronica Tennant.
Patricia has lived in Greenwich with her husband Alan Rivera for the past twenty years. They are the proud parents of Victoria Rivera, Tufts University Class of 2026, and Carolina Rivera, Columbia University Class of 2026. Victoria and Carolina were GBA students for nine years and graduated from GBA in June 2022.
