Bryn Cohn graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts in dance performance and composition under the direction of Stephan Koplowitz. She is the artistic director of the New York-based contemporary dance company, Bryn Cohn +.
Artists work has been presented at Merce Cunningham Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Ailey Citigroup Theater, Judson Memorial Church, 92nd Street Y, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Dixon Place, Abrons Arts Center, Baruch Performing Arts Center, Manhattan Movement and Arts, Triskelion Arts, Peridance Capezio Theater among others.
Bryn has been commissioned to set works on Missouri Contemporary Ballet, Billy Bell’s Lunge Dance Collective (of Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet and So You Think You Can Dance), Grand Valley State University and the :pushing progress contemporary training program. Bryn was one of twenty international artists invited to participate in New Aesthetics Performance Intensive led by Crystal Pite in Vancouver, B.C. She was selected to serve on The Massachusetts Cultural Council to award choreographic fellowships. She teaches contemporary, composition and improvisation for the :pushing progress professional training program and has taught at Velocity Dance Center, Broadway Dance Center and Peridance Capezio Center.
She received scholarships to Bridge: Choreographic Dialogues in Tel Aviv, the Bessie Schoenberg Choreographic Lab at New York Live Arts and SUMAC, led by Susan Marshall.
She has performed in works by Alex Ketley, Ohad Naharin, Colin Connor, Christian Burns and Barak Marshall, and in self choreographed solos Leak and Au Revoir Love.
