It is our goal to have our students acquire the needed skills and stage experience crucial to their future in dance and to ensure that they are given the personal attention and instruction needed to reach their ultimate potential. Admission to the Academy is by audition.
A Coordinated Approach
The Greenwich Ballet Academy has a Classical Division and a Contemporary Division.
Students who have achieved overall body strength and have mastered the
classical technique of Level 5, will be interviewed with their parents to discuss their future at the Academy and the role which dance
may play in their lives. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their goals and aspirations with the faculty before a
decision is made regarding their promotion to the upper school.
If the academy feels that a student's body has changed significantly,
or, if the student desires to change his/her focus from a purely classical curriculum to a contemporary/modern course of study, the
student will be given the opportunity to make the switch and continue studying at the Academy in the Contemporary Division. The demands
of both dance forms are the same but the concentration will be toward a more contemporary and modern repertoire.
Master Classes & Workshops
In the past, the Academy has hosted master classes and workshops by renowned experts in the field of dance, such as Cynthia Gregory, Darla Hoover, Allegra Kent, Susan Jaffe, and many others. The Academy believes that these enrichment programs are a vital part of a dancer's education.
