The Greenwich Ballet Academy Gala Benefit
On Saturday, June 18, Greenwich Ballet Academy presented a dazzling Fifth Anniversary Gala Performance featuring excerpts from a number of classic ballets including Coppelia, Les Sylphides and Don Quixote.
The students also performed original pieces that highlighted their abilities in modern and character dance. Following the show, guests were treated to a champagne cocktail party and silent auction. Highlights included vacation homes in Newport, RI and Captiva Island, FL as well as golf outings, sports tickets and fashionable accessories.
Proceeds from the event will be used to support Greenwich Ballet Academy’s regular programs including scholarships, performances and weekly classes. In addition, funds support the GBA Master Class Series, which brings in professional dancers such as Irina Dvorovenko, Maxim Beloserkovsky, Charles Askegard and such luminaries as Allegra Kent to work directly with students.
Greenwich Ballet Academy is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) institution that nurtures talented dancers, ages 4-21, toward careers in classical ballet and contemporary dance with a unique emphasis on the Russian Vaganova method of instruction. GBA is the only school in the lower Fairfield and Westchester County area to offer this specialized type of training. The professional faculty also provide classes in modern and character dance, and contemporary ballet. GBA students have earned accolades at international ballet competitions and have joined professional ballet companies.
